Kindergarteners will be able to...

 

Math

  • Read, write & compare numbers to 100

  • Count by 1's and 10’s up to 100.

  • Represent numbers in 10s and 1s

  • Add & Subtract numbers through 5

  • Collect and analyze data

  • Recognize & draw shapes

  • Measure objects with various units

  • Understand positional words

 

Reading and Language Arts:

  • Make predictions using the cover, title, and pictures of a book

  • Follow left to right progression of written text

  • Recognize that sentences are made up of separate words

  • Begin to write simple sentences

  • Distinguish letters from words

  • Identify letters of the alphabet and connect them to their sounds

  • Write letters of the alphabet

  • Recognize and produce rhyming words

  • Recognize common sight words

  • Use developmental spelling to construct words and sentences

  • Identify basic punctuation marks

  • Demonstrate one to one correspondence in written text

  • Sequence the beginning, middle and end of a story

  • Distinguish between fiction and non-fiction

  • Discuss the setting, characters, and events of a story

  • Listen attentively to stories

  • Follow two to three step directions accurately

  • Communicate personal needs clearly

  • Speak audibly and clearly

  • Express ideas to the group

  • Stay on topic

  • Take turns & listen when others are speaking
